Thematic / Macro

SPY SPDR S&P 500 ETF buyer 12,600 May 130 puts for 2.31

IWM iShares Russell 2000 Index (ETF) – An investor bought 26,000 April 75 puts for $0.16.

EWJ iShares MSCI Japan Index  – 20,000 September 10 puts were bought for $0.59.

XLF Financial Select Sector SPDR (ETF) – 20,000 January 16 puts were bought for $1.22.

EEM iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Indx (ETF) - seller 12,500 April 49 calls at 47 and then a buyer 6,000 Jun 46 puts for 1.29

Consumer

EBAY eBay Inc. – 25,000 July 26 puts were sold at $0.59.

CCL Carnival Corporation – 5300 July  37 puts were bought for $2.05. The puts appear to be bought to open.

RSH RadioShack Corporation – An investor sold 5000 January 12.5 puts and bought the January 15 / 22.5 call spread for $1.00. Appears to be an opening bullish play.


Energy

RRC Range Resources Corp. – 9000 June 70 calls were sold at $1.00.


Tech

YHOO Yahoo! Inc. – 43,500 October 20 calls were bought for $0.80 vs 16.83 stock.

EBAY eBay Inc. – 25,000 July 26 puts were sold at $0.59.

INTC Intel Corporation – 18,250 January 25 calls were sold at $0.33.

AT&T Inc. – 15,750 July 33 calls were sold at $0.31.

VHC VirnetX Holding Corp - CA based software developer for communication over the Internet, saw heavy trading in call options.  16K calls versus 9K calls traded today.  Apr 21C, 20C and Apr 20P, 19P were busy.  A bullish article on Seeking Alpha yesterday noted "VirnetX is now on the brink of becoming a key technology licensing company" and "it is worth billions".  Some of today's put buyers might be taking the opposite view or perhaps buying puts to protect recent gains in VHC shares.  VHC closed up 1.23 to 20.52.

Industrial / Materials

GE General Electric Company -15,000 June 21 puts were bought for $1.48.

POT Potash Corp./Saskatchewan – 3500 April 60 calls were sold at $0.95.


Financials

V Visa Inc. – 5900 June 67.5 puts were sold at $1.20.No position at this time. Position declarations are believed to be accurate at time of writing but may change at any time and without notice.


Healthcare


ACOR Acorda Therapeutics - healthcare company that provides therapeutic options for people with nervous system disorders, traded 6.5 times its usual option volume with 1,292 calls and ZERO puts with 30 day IV kicked up 7.5% to 45.32.  The July 25 calls traded 1K times for .65 and the May 25 calls traded 250 times.  April 22.5 and 24 calls traded about twenty times.  There’s no real news on the company out today and the company’s next earnings announcement is not until April 28th.  The top positions are: July 22P (5K), July 20P (2.5K), April 30C (780), Jan12 25P (719), Apr 21P (658).  ACOR closed up 67 to 22.84.


MELA MELA Sciences Inc - traded 12.5 times the usual volume with 21K calls versus 1K puts.  54% of the sentiment was Bullish as most of today's call premium traded on ask.  Apr 4 calls were the most actives, 7K contracts changed hands (98% on ask), implied volatility up 9.6 to 116.7%.  Apr 3C and May 3.5C saw some interest as well.  MELA closed up 0.59 to 3.76.
