Trader Technology: New Ways to Record your Thoughts

If you like to take notes on the market and find that keeping a personal blog is too cumbersome, but still want all the high tech features like searching and tagging, then we have found some apps for you to check out.

The first is Simplenote. This is a cloud based service that lets you write entries, tag them, search them, and share them. I like the interface of this site but from what I have found (and what the name would lead you to believe) you can only enter text, no images. This might be rather limiting for some traders, but others might not care about posting charts or other images. The sharing feature is unique - while there is no direct link to twitter etc. there is a publishing service that provides you a link to your note which you can then share via tweetdeck or whatever.

If you really want to post charts and would like 128 bit encryption, Memoir might be more up your alley. The tradeoff is that it is NOT cloud based and does not use tagging, although it is searchable. You also have the ability to share via email which is nice, although the images didn't show up in the emails I generated. Perhaps you'd like to email your note to a friend? One click does it. What is noticeably absent though is the lack of any social network compatibility, even the sort of different kind that Simplenote offers. This could be a problem for some.

Bottom line, if you are trying to think out of the box on how to organize and store your thoughts on the market there a couple of different ways to do it. Feel free to share your ideas in the comment section.
