Option Flow Recap for Febuary 8

Macro / Thematic

XLK – 13,000 March 27 calls were bought for $0.45


Consumer

HOT – Bearish flow in HOT today including a multi exchange sweep of 1500 August 45 puts for $1.09 with a total of 2500 trading on that line on the day (all traded on the offer).

RGC – 1900 February 12.5 calls were bought for $0.50 and 800 traded for $0.45 which was an opening buyer.

WFMI – The top trade on the day was 3500 March 50 puts for $1.86. Another interesting trade was a sale of 500 January 35 / 70 straddles at $3.90.

PHM – Calls were active once again today with over 12,000 calls and only 1800 puts trading in various lines. Call buyers have been active in the name this week and appear to be anticipating a move higher during the weeks and months ahead.

TTWO – 7000 March 13 calls were sold to buy 3500 March 16 calls collecting $0.90. The investor took some profit and rolled the calls higher ahead of the earnings report today.


Energy

SD - 15,000 September 9 calls were bought for $0.98. Overall flow in the Oklahoma City, OK oil and gas driller looks bullish. 23,000 calls and 120 puts changed hands.

VLO – 6000 June 27 / 24puts spread was bought for $0.98.


Industrial / Materials

ARG – 3500 March 60 / 65 bullish risk reversal traded today for even money.


TMT

JNPR – The stock reached a new 52-week high today and the calls were active all day with ~21,000 calls and ~4000 puts trading. February 42 calls were the most active with ~6700 trading (67% on the offer)

EQIX – 2500 of the February 90 / March 80 put spreads were bought for $1.25 which appears to be a bearish short term play ahead of results.

TER – 17,000 July 21 calls were sold at $0.60 to open.


Financials

SFI - ~15,500 January 10 calls were sold at $1.55. An investor A stockholder either initiated the sale against shares and / or is betting that SFI will hold below $10 into early 2012.

WFC – 13,000 February 35 calls were sold at $0.09.


Healthcare

BAX – 8000 of the August 55 calls were bought for $0.93. The position was tied to stock at $48.85 on a 21 delta

CBST – 2100 of the August 17.5 / 30 bearish risk reversals were bought today for $0.65. The trade was tied to 88,000 shares of stock at $22.25.

STJ – 6000 of the January 40 / 50 bullish risk reversals traded today for even money. The position looks opening and to be a bullish play on the medical device maker through Jan 2012.
